- Fill out a voter registration application and email or mail the completed form to the clerk, or drop it in the secure drop box at the town hall.
- At the town hall on designated days before election day: the clerk will set at least one session prior to each election day for in-person voter registration.
- At the town hall on election day: see the right sidebar for this year's election days
- To register at the town hall you must bring a photo ID and proof of residence. Click here to find lists of accepted ID and proof of residence documents.
What are the options for voting?
- In person at the town hall on election day: see the right sidebar for upcoming election days.
- Absentee by mail: see below for how to request an absentee ballot.
- In-person absentee voting: the clerk will set at least two sessions prior to each election day at the town hall. You will be given a ballot to vote then and there (you cannot take the ballot home). Your ballot is sealed in an envelope and processed on election day.
- You can also register to vote or drop off an absentee ballot received by mail on these days.
Absentee Ballots (By Mail and In Person)
You don’t have to head to your polling place on election day to vote. In Wisconsin, voters have many safe and secure ways to participate in elections — including voting by absentee ballot. With absentee voting, you can:
- Fill out a ballot at the town hall before Election Day, or
- Receive your ballot by mail and either mail in your completed ballot or drop it off at the town hall
If you want to receive your ballot by mail, the clerk must receive the request by 5:00 pm on the 5th day before an election. Overseas voters should allow for at least two weeks to receive and mail their ballot in time for the election.
The easiest and fastest way to request an absentee ballot is to click on the My Vote image on the right side of this page. Once at My Vote, select "Vote Absentee by Mail" and follow the instructions there. It is very easy and takes only a few minutes, and the request is received by the clerk immediately after it is submitted. No need to wonder how long it will take for the clerk to get it in the mail.
You can also complete an "Application for Absentee Ballot" and send it via e-mail or mail (E2301 State Rd. 29, Menomonie, WI 54751) to the clerk, or place it in the secure drop box outside the SW corner of the town hall. Follow all instructions on page 2 of the form, and include a copy of your Photo ID (accepted IDs are on page 2). You must first verify that you are a registered voter by confirming on My Vote (click on the image on the right side of this page).
